I just had a good catch up with the Voyage Management team for Voyage 6 who will be going to Mawson to refuel the station and the current Mawson Station Leader and the ingoing Station Leader. After we leave Casey we will head to Davis to do their resupply then over to Mawson where will meet up with Voyage 6 so we all got together to continue discussions on how we will make resupply, refuelling and station handovers work cohesively.

Last night I made the mistake of looking out of my cabin window just as I was thinking of going to bed. There were a number of large ice floes near the ship and on those floes were a lot of penguins. Most of them snuggled down on their stomachs appearing to be snoozing and there was 1 or 2 amongst them that appear to be standing guard.

One Adelie looked like he was practicing jumping on an ice floe. One side was quite high and he did not make the first attempt so went onto a small section, jumped back in the water and had another go. Success!!!

Cheers,

Leanne and Jacob
