Comments

We are cooking with gas again today.

Cargo operations are running smoothly using two pontoons attached to a workboat each. By the time one pontoon is loaded with cargo at the ship and heading ashore the second one is being unloaded at the station wharf ready to head back to the ship for another load. The crane is taking the cargo from the pontoon and putting straight onto a truck which takes it up the road to the station for processing. From the bridge we can see empty spaces appearing as the cargo is discharged.

We are still on ice watch waiting for a large chunk to fall into the bay. Over the last few days all on board have been keeping vigil. Yesterday there were many calls 'it is going to fall' so we head to the bridge to watch and we are standing in the cold waiting and stubbornly it has not fallen. We can see the cracks getting bigger but it continues to tease us with pieces breaking off and a large depression has appeared. It looks like the ice underneath has melted and is collapsing on itself. There is a go pro set up on the side of the bridge in the hope that the actual collapse is captured.

Cheers
Leanne and Jacob
