We have made it to Casey!!

We had an awesome transit through the ice yesterday afternoon with plenty of large icebergs and it created a lot of excitement on board. Beanie, sunnies, jackets donned and outside to watch the passing ice and bergs as the Captain and his team gently maneuvered the Happy Diamond on our merry way. Attempts were made to take the perfect photo but alas it is not possible to capture what the eye can see. We saw a number of Weddell seals glaring up at this yellow and white beast as it made it's way passed them. A few just did not want to move as the ship gently moved aside the ice floe they was on. I headed back to my cabin late last night and looked out of my cabin window and there was an emperor penguin on an ice floe about 20 metres away; you don't see that every day!. What a privilege to travel to Antarctica and see these amazing sights.

It was fantastic to see MPOV Aiviq sitting in Newcomb Bay undertaking refuelling operations. They will finish the pack of their refuelling equipment in the coming hours and once they depart will not see them until both ships are at Mawson next month. Safe travels.

Cheers,
Leanne and Jacob
