Voyage wise there is not a lot to talk about operationally. VL is almost solely focused on drafting the VL report while the DVL continues to plan for arrival at Hobart.
The weather has remained consistent with seas around the 2-3m level. We passed back over the Antarctic Convergence today and should pass the halfway mark tomorrow. The weather tomorrow is likely to bring slightly higher seas of around 5-6m, but nothing which will be challenging for AIVIQ or her crew.
Socially a lot has been happening and events last night have led many members of the crew, mostly the VL, to question the reliability and honesty of the DVL.
If you recall yesterday's SITREP, the DVL was feeling a little down after having lost 500 (the card game, not an amount of money) the night previous. Re-energised with AIVIQ mess food and a desire to stick-it to the VL, DVL Trent made a few bold calls throughout the game.
There was a point early on in the night where the DVL threw down the Joker as his final card to clutch victory at the last moment. What was most concerning about this move was the DVL had previously thrown an off-suit card when he was required, by 500 law, to follow suit. Reneging...............I will let you decided.
Thankfully the fate of the night was not decided by this one hand and the DVL had to again finish the night on the team that did not win.
Cards, boardgames, gym and movies are now they main way the team passes time. It is always excellent to see the team joking around, bonding and forming new friendships.
Tomorrow I will let Trent draft the SITREP and allow him the right of reply.
Regards,
Trent and Cam
