Last 36hrs - All expeditioners boarded AIVIQ on Thu, 15 Dec 22. Boarding was smooth and all personnel were in good spirits. Ship's crew, VL and PMU provided essential briefs to all expeditioners prior to equipment collection and room occupation.
Due to ship repairs, departure was delayed by 38hrs; however, all repairs were affected and the ship is now 100% operationally effective with departure recorded as 0905 h Sat, 17 Dec 22.
The additional time prior to departure was an excellent opportunity for expeditioners to settle into rooms and familiarise themselves with the ships many corridors, stairs and doors. To date no one has been lost for more than half a day and ship's crew are always happy to help.
Food on board AIVIQ is fantastic and the galley staff have already set the bar high. The team are looking forward to seeing what is in store for Christmas day.
Operationally, key staff including VM, Refueling Supervisor (RS) and Watercraft Controller (WC) have commenced planning serials for the refueling of Casey. Casey SL and VM are synchronised and planning will continue over the next 10-12 days.
Next 24. The next 24 is likely to see a decrease in movement through the ship as many expeditioners learn what if feels like to be at sea. Main effort for VM is ongoing planning station resupply.
