Comments

The adventurous among us, today pushed the boundaries of exploration and ventured from the depths of the AIVIQ all the way to the bridge, with some even heading bravely onto the outer decks! The overcast conditions and sea mist did not deter the hardy souls, who were rewarded for the efforts with a fine array of bird life. Wandering albatross, with a wingspan of 2.5-3.5m, soar effortlessly over the white crested waves. These aerodynamic birds are able to remain in the air for hours without having to flap its wings. In contrast to this grand bird of the Southern Ocean is the Wilson Storm Petrel, also spotted by those with a keen eye. This tiny bird has a wingspan of just 40cm! It's hard to image how such a delicate looking bird contests with the strong winds of the roaring 40's, let alone the furious fifties, that await us in the coming days.
