Comments

First voyage is up and running, well done to the all the folks at Kingston, CBC, AIVIQ and the broader Antarctic community in making it happen.

After waving off our friends on the pier, the team has settled in well. It was a busy first day including a safety brief, an afternoon for LARC (Lighter, Amphibious, Resupply, Cargo) operations with AIVIQ in the Derwent and ending the evening with an abandon ship drill and practice donning of the immersion suits.

It has been nice to say hello to shipmates from last season and for first timers to be reintroduced to the wonderful hospitality of the crew. So far, the menu hits include the chocolate chip cookies and sweet potato pancakes.

The current weather is lightly reminding everyone how to hold on but the collective feeling is, it is good to be underway.

REGARDS: Christine & Jacob
