We arrived at Davis at 0600 this morning. The early risers amongst us enjoyed a beautifully bright sunrise as we steamed past grounded icebergs and ice-covered islands. While the ship was settling on DP, our Watercraft Operators were out on the decks getting the boats prepared. The first IRB (the 'green machine') was on the water for 0700 and delivered two PAX ashore. The second IRB (the 'red devil') took a bulker bag ashore and the third IRB ('banana boat') took a new pallet jack to station. The green, red, and yellow IRB then proceeded to run back and forth from station. In total, 21 IRB runs took place with 2 tonnes of cargo delivered. We also received six bulker bags from station and some critical medical samples.
We will now wait at Davis while some bad weather passes over. Luckily, the winds don't pick up until tomorrow, which means we can facilitate station visits this afternoon. Station Leader Karen and her team at Davis have been incredibly accommodating and everyone is looking forward to some time on land.
