We are in the heaviest swell encountered so far on this voyage. There is plenty of banging as room contents move from one location to another without human intervention.
Watching the stern of the ship is quite mesmerising as it churns up the water and creates an aqua coloured wake. The albatrosses seem to like following us and trying to capture the illusive photo of them as they speed around the ship can be frustrating. They seem to appear close to the ship as soon as you put the camera down. May be this is to encourage us to watch the wonders of nature rather than looking at them through a view finder.
We sailed across the Antarctic Convergence yesterday which means we have left the colder Antarctic waters. Thermal clothing has generally disappeared to be replaced with shorts and t-shirts (well some of us still have warmer clothes on).
I forgot to mention in yesterday's sitrep that we had turned our clocks forward another hour and are now only 1 hour behind Hobart time.
Cheers
