I am sitting on the bridge watching the last of the RTA cargo being loaded to the barge Peter Gormley then to the ship Happy Dragon. The grease ice is starting to form around the ship and it is interesting watch is gently move in the lee of the ship. The pieces are see through and as they gently slide up on each other the colour becomes whiter with each piece.

At the same time the Aiviq passengers are gathering on the Davis wharf all wearing their 'banana suits' and waiting for their barge to pull in to pick them up. This is the AAD issued outer layer of protective clothing that keeps the wind out. Underneath all are wearing thermals and fleece pants. The AAD Watercraft Standard Operating Procedures are very specific on what passengers must wear when travelling on watercraft.

The above was written yesterday as the resupply was nearing completion at Davis. A great team effort by all, particularly Davis and the Happy Dragon supported by Aiviq.

The Aiviq departed Davis at 6.15pm local time and made our way through the pack ice watching an array of icebergs, bergy bits and new ice travel by. In reasonably short order the Happy Dragon was in our slip stream and followed the Aiviq through the ice and at around midnight they passed us and headed on their merry way. We look forward to catching up with them in Hobart.

Cheers
Leanne & Matt
