As mentioned in yesterday's sitrep the weather denied us the opportunity to refuel. The hope was that the conditions would die down sufficiently to at least do several hours but alas this was an ambitious thought and did not happen.
Today is a different story. The Aiviq came into Kista Strait early this morning in preparation to set up in the Harbour. The weather is playing the game, the Aiviq moved into position and all personnel were ready and fuel pumping began. There are two fuel farms, a lower and an upper. We are continuing to pump into the lower fuel farm and once complete the fuel will commencing going into the upper fuel farm.
Today has also provided the opportunity for some of the Aiviq crew to go ashore. We thank the Mawson personnel for enabling this to occur particularly as this is the first time in Antarctica for many of the crew.
Cheers
Leanne & Matt
