Comments

There was no escape for those who are travelling below 60 degrees for the first time. King Neptune ensured that all were anointed with a tap on their shoulders with his sturdy trident, they kissed the fish, drank sea water (yellow and blue Gatorade mixed together makes great looking sea water), and with a smear of vegemite, they became South Polar Sea Dogs and given royal assent to travel in his ocean.

Preparations continue for our arrival at Mawson on the weekend with environmental briefings for the crew, Mawson team meetings, sea ice briefing and radio briefings planned for today.

All on board are eagerly anticipating their first glimpse of Mawson and enjoying the scenery as we wend our way through the icebergs.

Cheers
Leanne & Matt
