What an arrival! This morning we sailed past icebergs, penguins, whales and fresh sea-ice in dead calm seas to arrive at Davis Station. The bridge of the Happy Dragon was packed as we marvelled at the best of what Antarctica had to offer. For the crew and a good deal of the watercraft operators this is the third Australian station they've visited this summer and were quick to compare the layouts and building concepts of Australia's three continental stations of Davis, Casey and Mawson. On a picture perfect day like today though, it's obvious why Davis is perennially referred to as 'The Riviera of the south'. Cargo operations were underway almost immediately with the now well drilled and experienced crew and a station eager to receive their goods for the year ahead.
