Steering clear of some rough seas we have set a course due south to hopefully avoid a large weather system brewing above us. Making haste for the calmer waters of Antarctica we have crossed the Antarctic convergence zone and will soon cross 60 degrees South Latitude and enter Antarctic waters. The moment will soon arrive where the lookout perched high in the crow's nest shall exclaim "Iceberg!", but alas, in these more modern polar times the ship's crow's nest has been replaced by a radar system that will display a large blob on the screen long before our human eyes can spot it. It is still exciting to scan the horizon with binoculars and hope for that first glimpse of ice and the bragging rights that go with it...
