We have just departed Macquarie Island and heading into the open ocean once more. There is some rolling which had made it uncomfortable for some. It will be a quiet afternoon with many taking a well earned rest. One of the joys of working on Antarctic/sub Antarctic voyages is catching up with friends returning to Australia. Listening to their experiences and what they have been doing for the year.
The resupply has been a success with all our objectives met. I am grateful to all the Macca ingoing and outgoing teams, voyage support, the IPEV team and the ship crew. All have worked well together and contributed to the success of the resupply and meeting our voyage objectives.
We wish the 2021 Macquarie Island team a successful and safe year ahead and look forward to seeing them next year.
