After a big day of refuelling yesterday we had a later start today to ensure that all were rested before another day of cargo operations. Once again the weather played interesting games with us. We were ready to start but the winds were little too high, teetering on the edge of our working parameters. We were able to commence operations about 45 minutes prior to our usual lunch break and all agreed to work a rolling lunch so operations could continue. This means that while one person has a lunch break someone else will cover their shift. This enabled cargo operations to continue without interruption.

We are down to the last containers of cargo to empty and discharge. This cargo is what is known as break bulk, it does not come in standard containers. There are bundles of timber, mattresses, wooden boxes, concrete etc so it takes a little extra time to unload them. We are now concentrating on discharging the heavy loads onto the LARCS.

A number of expeditioners on board went ashore yesterday to help with refuelling operations or to assess the cargo coming back to Australia were able to stay ashore for a little longer than their shift to walk along the beach and photograph the wildlife. Thank you to both the outgoing and ingoing Station Leaders for enabling this to happen.

The last LARC departed the ship at 0539 hours carrying the last of the ingoing cargo. Well done to ship and station based expeditioners and ship's crew on a great job.
