Fresh out of the oven for breakfast chocolate brioche melted in our mouths which was a great preparation for the day ahead of cargo operations.
For those of us on board we had the most amazing close up view of Macquarie Island as the ship anchored in Buckles Bay once more. Once positioned the ship crew lifted cargo out of the hold and placed on the helideck ready for collection by the LARCS. Two LARCs have been working in rotation. As one LARC is leaving the beach heading to the ship to collect more cargo, the other LARC already has a load and is heading toward the beach and up onto the island where the cargo will be lifted off using a JCB. The cage pallets that the cargo is packed into will be unpacked and stowed on station.
We have had a good run of cargo operations today and by 2.30 pm 15 LARC runs to the ship had been made and transferred 42 cage pallets of cargo ashore, including personal effects and mail. The weather is so far playing the game and we hope to continue our operations until 7pm this evening.
