Yesterday we managed to squeeze four flights in and today we were hoping for something similar. It was not to be though. Instead of good skies the weather gods decided to present us with cloud between the ship and Mawson. The decrease in the surface and horizon definition along with the low visibility meant that we would not fly today.
This allowed us time to search through containers for some final bits of critical cargo including some food items for the Mawson chef. This morning's activity saw a group of expeditioners head out to the -18 frozen food container and move items from the freezer into a cage pallet waiting around the corner. The Davis chef predicts we have about 2 cage pallets more of frozen goods to unpack from the container for station.
In the afternoon another group of keen expeditioners assisted with the great jar search. Another container was opened and the team went into action. This time looking for a mixture of assorted food products in glass jars which included pickles and the essential tomato paste. The items required were located and moved into the preparation zone ready to form part of a payload for a future flight.
Tomorrow the forecast looks a bit more promising so we will try our luck again and recommence flying loads to Mawson.
REGARDS: Andy, Jenn and Lauren
