After resting for a few days it was time to swing the helicopters and the team back into action. It was an early 06:00 start commencing with the morning weather briefing followed by the daily toolbox. The Helicopter Resources Team then went about waking up the machines, moving them from their hangers to the main deck to blade up. At 08:30 the first helicopter was airborne and repositioned onto the helicopter deck at the front of the ship. By 09:10 both helicopters had a full complement of cargo and were once again on their way to Mawson.

Once the helicopters departed, the decks again became a hive activity. The Voyage Resupply Coordinator and her team got to work preparing loads of food, medical supplies and other critical items for the station. Around the corner from them the Davis chef and her helpers continued with unloading the frozen food container which included items like chickens, frozen veg and the ever popular brunch staple; bacon. On the port side of the ship the Deputy Voyage Leader and the Voyage Management Assistant had a band of trade personnel helping them sort through a 20 foot container to locate critical items for station. Mid-morning the team received the updated Final Manifest of critical items for the station.

Our aim today was to fly at least 3 sorties of cargo to Mawson. At the end of today we had flown a total of 4 sorties, a long day for many who started at 06:00. A great day of team work from all who were involved in the operations today, both on the deck and those behind the scenes here on the Everest, and those back at Head Office.

REGARDS: Andy, Jenn and Lauren
