Overnight the wind dropped and this morning we were once again greeting with blue skies. The Ship's Master put a call over the ships intercom for helpers to assist the removal of ice from the main deck. Eager expeditioners donned warm clothing and headed out with the MPV Everest deck crew armed with crow bars and oars to chip away at the ice. By mid-morning the deck was clear and by all accounts those involved had a great time in the fresh air.
Meetings between the Deputy Voyage Leader, Voyage Resupply Coordinator and various outgoing Mawson personnel were had to paw over the manifest and determine critical cargo required for the team at Mawson. In the afternoon another 20 foot container was moved onto the deck and the doors were opened. The Deputy Voyage Leader and Voyage Resupply Coordinator armed with clipboards and a band of helpers began the process of removing boxes and checking which items need to go into Mawson from the priority list we have received from Kingston. Up in the office the Voyage Leader crunched numbers looking at how much and what we have moved ashore,
Tomorrow the forecast looks good and we will recommence flying as the pilots will have completed their three days of rest.
