Comments

This morning whilst cape petrels skirted across the top of the waves, and ice bergs completed the picture, the Everest slowed down to 5 knots allowing us to deploy our fourth and final Argo Hull. Under the eye of the Voyage Management Assistant the ship's 2nd officer, assisted by one of the deck crew, lowered the hull down towards the water. When the timing was right the hull released from its harness and floated away from us, as we moved forwards again. A big thank you to the Ship's 2nd Officer who has taken on the lead role in the deployment of these in conjunction with voyage management. He has most certainly earnt the stripes of Honorary Scientist of the Southern Ocean.

The final briefings for refuelling were completed this morning, and as we write this a group of identified expeditioners are taking part in the theoretical competent of the refuel deck crew training. These personnel will form part of the teams on the water who will monitor the fuel line during the refuelling process. When we arrive at Davis they will then complete the on water component under the guidance of the Watercraft Operators. Meetings between Davis station personnel and Voyage Management continue as we make our final preparations for arrival at Davis. The Voyage Operations Plan in now completed and has been distributed.

REGARDS: Andy, Jenn and Lauren
