Today expeditioner briefings continue in the main deck cinema and conference room. This included passenger ship to shore transfer as well as final group for radio use and station inductions. The passenger ship to shore transfer session included the safe use of the ship's Billy Pugh. Most on board are familiar with using a Jacob's ladder to descend from the ship to an IRB or barge for transfer, however, the Billy Pugh allows for multiple personnel to be safely transferred from the deck of the ship onto the barge at a single time using a ship's crane to lower the passengers over water.
Up on the bridge the casual ice berg and bergy bits can be spied as they pass us by from afar and the frequency in which they can be sighted is increasing ... so is their size. Below the bridge in the voyage management office the team are busily working on plans for arrival at Davis. Today discussions were held to discuss on water training for personnel at Davis and timings required for refuelling preparation – the wheels are certainly all in motion and the puzzle pieces are all coming together and locking in. The Resupply Operations Plan is almost ready for the Station Leader to cast his eagle eye over.
We turn our clocks back another hour tonight, signalling we are getting closer to our destination.
Before we sign off, today marked the birthday of several on board. This includes the MPV Everest Master. From all of here in Voyage Management Happy Birthday to all who celebrate their Birthday's during Voyage 2.
REGARDS: Andy, Jenn and Lauren
