After a couple of days of rolling around the seas have started to drop and once again we are experiencing a gentler roll upon the Southern Ocean. In these friendlier times many are now venturing outside of their cabins. The sound in the mess is increasing slowly as more people make their way to gobble down the tasty meals and treats the galley crew on board are providing us. We're very fortunate to be treated to an array of food on board including some tasty treats by the ship's baker. A few days ago some fresh sour dough appeared in the morning which was well received by the bridge crew and a certain voyage leader ... rumour has it that a member of the management team assisted with its production. We now are being greeted with fresh bread every couple of days.

Outside the skies this morning were grey and overcast with the odd shower or two passing by. The seabirds must have been having a lie in or they were hiding in the fog which had decreased our visibility to around 1 km. This afternoon the weather has cleared up and the sun periodically breaks through to dance upon the water. However action of the avian kind is still at a minimum.

Briefings continued today for the Everest crew around contingency planning for the Davis and Mawson resupplies. The cargo gurus on board met to discuss the various options for stowage and use of the cargo deck, as part of the contingency planning in the event of a fly off at Mawson, should it be required. Tomorrow sees the first of our expeditioner briefings for the week, with station meetings for the both the Mawson and Davison Teams.

Clocks go back another hour tonight as we inch our way closer towards Davis.

REGARDS: Andy, Jenn and Lauren
