A quieter day on board with many expeditioners laying low as the seas start to build. Today has been a good test to ensure all items are secured and stowed properly, as chairs start to slide from one side to the other. Those expeditioners who are up and about teeter along the corridors as the roll of the ship pushes them from one side to the other. The ever popular movie nights are back on the schedule with a broad collection to choose from, Turkey Run, however, will not be screening this voyage. Number restrictions for rooms have meant the nightly viewings are now available in two locations - the main deck cinema and office deck conference room.
On the work front sea bird observations have commenced from the dizzying heights of the ship's bridge. Here you can find a team of two with a keen set of eyes scouring the seas on the lookout for our feathered friends. To date sightings have included wandering albatross, shearwaters ... stay tuned for more bird sightings at a later date. Planning meetings continue amongst the various groups on the ship for both Davis and Mawson Stations as we steadily make our way through the Southern Ocean south.
