Preparations are underway for tomorrows arrival at 0800hrs alongside Macquarie No. 4 Wharf Hobart. As this is the last AAD chartered voyage on the Aurora Australis, we've had a few volunteers assist in packing various items of photos and memorabilia from the ship, some of which have been with the ship since the early 90's. This afternoon a call was made over the ships P.A with the Tasman Peninsula first sighted on the horizon. Expeditioners and crew enjoyed the last special occasion on the AA followed by a spectacular sunset and views of the peninsula cliffs with an occasional visit by a pod of dolphins. Tomorrow will be an early start for all with cabin inspections commencing from 6:00am.
Some stats for the Macca Resupply:
Total Lifts 456 (258 Sling loads by helicopter and 198 loads by LARC)
212 tonnes of cargo was transported to and from the ship (117t by helicopter and 95t by LARC).
140,100 Litres of SAB (Special Antarctic Blend) fuel delivered to Station
