Comments

We pulled into Buckles Bay this morning after doing our overnight slow laps of the east coast of the island. In great conditions we commenced transferring expeditioners ashore in IRBs and then started loading cargo to LARCs for transfer ashore. Once we had moved enough cargo to the aft end hangar and helideck we brought the helicopters out to start sling loading cargo ashore. The Aurora crew, AAD team onboard and at station did an amazing job of feeding cargo from the holds to the helideck and then ashore from the transports to the storage locations. By the end of operations today we had moved over 130 lifts of cargo. Those of us out on the ship were also lucky enough to be entertained by King Penguins as they became curious enough to come and investigate the ship and our watercraft. Thankfully today was drier than yesterday but the wind meant that those on deck were quite well layered up to keep warm. As with all operations at Macquarie Island we are at the mercy of the weather as to how much we can achieve so there is much hope aboard that tomorrow will bring us similar conditions as today.
REGARDS: Nicki and Chris
