Last night we had a fundraiser for Camp Quality, the charity that the crew of the Aurora Australis have supported for the 30 years the ship has been afloat.
Because V3 is the last continental voyage each year of the ship it is usually full (126 out of 140 bunks filled this time), and the crew and expeditioners ashore spend the winter and following summer crafting things to auction to the expeditioners on the way home.
This year we had an amazing scale model of the Aurora, table lamps, pictures, paintings, sketches and drawings, place mats, a flag, bottle openers, rope door mats (and a snail!), hand knitted beanies, wood carvings and turning.
All up we raised AU$22,817.
Meanwhile 'Stay' the fibreglass guide dog remains safe and comfortable on the bridge of the ship. For now...
