Last night we stooged back and fore only 10 or so miles from Davis station in front of the Sorsdal Glacier. The calmest seas in 100 miles. The weather peaked at around 60 knots (111 kph) with gusts over 70 knots (130 kph). As I write the winds have suddenly dropped to only 15 knots and as predicted the storm is metamorphosing into the weather more usually associated with the 'Riviera of the South'.
Tomorrow we will make our way back into the Davis anchorage and transfer the passengers ashore, and to the ship, before heading into Prydz Bay to deploy two ARGO buoys (more on them tomorrow)...
Cheers
