The station refuelling operation has continued throughout last night and today. Our refuel team, supported by station and ship personnel have been working in rosters monitoring the constant flow of fuel down the line from the focsle of the ship, winding its way across Newcomb Bay and into the storage tanks at station. Fuel line monitors in the IRBs (inflatable rigid boats) in the bay and on foot ashore continued their monitoring up and down the line day and night. At present it is expected that over 1,000,000lts of fuel (the lifeblood of station and field activities) will be transferred by approximately 2200hs this evening, the time we estimate pumping will be concluded.
For fear of speaking to soon I'll reserve comment about the weather and ice conditions thus far..
Regards,
James, Anthea & Gemma.
