Today we got to work.

This morning, ship's crew, our watercraft team at personnel at station had us rolling through initial passenger transfers and a series of preparatory briefings, toolbox meetings and inductions at station. Initially scheduled yesterday, but for our slower progress due to sea ice conditions, these preparatory sessions were postponed until this morning. Now completed, they will hold us in good stead for the commencement of refuel operations and the transfer of heavy vehicles from ship to station via the barge as part of the scheduled cargo operations. They also provided an opportunity for members of our watercraft team to familiarise themselves with the operation of the barge, to test communications, and to ensure mutual understanding in aspects of shore-side operations between us and our station counterparts.

After lunch, resupply operations commenced in earnest with ship's crew, watercraft operators and the station team facilitating 12 barge loads of cargo from the ship to the station prior to the conclusion of operations this evening.

Tomorrow, preparations for refuelling operations will continue and we hope for the current very benign weather conditions to remain with us.

On behalf of the voyage management team, our thanks to those here on the ship, at Casey station and supporting in Hobart for a very productive first day of resupply operations.

Regards,

James, Anthea & Gemma.
