Christmas day wound down with expeditioners and crew innovating various grazing combinations of cold-cuts, cheese and desserts. An intrepid few braved the VL's movie selection and were rewarded with the warm and fuzzies a la 'It's a Wonderful Life'.
This morning at 0630hs the first of two Met Buoys were deployed (thrown over the stern) and left to drift upon the ocean currents, relaying oceanographic data back via satellite to their minders at the Bureau of Meteorology.
Once the second Met Buoy is deployed tomorrow morning our attention will shift to the deployment and retrieval of whale moorings on the 28th . Meanwhile, the CPR is due to be retrieved once again this evening, its krill lined cartridge changed out before being towed once again out the back of the ship for another 36 hours.
Planning for resupply continues amongst members of the crew and expeditioners, with a series of preparatory briefings scheduled for tomorrow and Saturday.
Regards,
James, Anthea & Gemma.
