Land ho! Southwest Cape and Maatsuyker Island are in sight! That, coupled with the balmy weather and bright sunshine has seen many people out on the heli deck, exposing white pasty flesh to the damaging effects of UV radiation for the first time in a long time. Plenty of action elsewhere in the ship too, as cabins are cleaned, bathrooms scrubbed, beards trimmed, and phones charged. We're well and truly on schedule for arrival tomorrow morning at 0800, and estimate disembarkation by 0930. Many thanks from Misty and I to all involved in V1 for what has been a successful, generally relaxed, and ultimately efficient Davis resupply. On a personal note, it's been a life defining experience having been involved with the RSV Aurora Australis on 17 trips since her first season in 1990, as an expeditioner, watercraft operator, drone pilot, and voyage leader. To be a part of what may be this amazing ship's final season, 29 years later, has been a real privilege.
Kind regards, Doug Thost & Misty McCain
