Comments

Vehicle and station inductions were completed yesterday afternoon, followed by a Resupply Briefing to confirm we were all on the same page regarding the plan for resupply, and to reinforce safety aspects of the operation. Working on an ice surface, approaching its melting point, is not a trivial exercise, and although the surface feels solid as concrete underfoot, it's sobering to remember you're floating on an ice sheet over the ocean!
A start was made on cargo operations in the early evening, with a more purposeful start commencing this morning. Ten lifts from the top hatch covers so far, with more to come this afternoon. Weather is being kind.
Some of us were up last night at 2215 as the Canadian Twin Otter aircraft landed on the fast ice skiway near station, having flown 8 hours from South Pole. The bridge awarded a 10/10 to the pilots for a silky smooth looking touchdown.
