Yesterday we finished cargo before dinner and steamed to the north end of the Kista Strait island group. The jet barge and an IRB made their way separately overtaking us just over half way, and whilst we waited in charted waters they made their way south to Bechervaise Island to pick up the two penguin biologists who have been isolated on Berche' since mid December. I'm still not sure if it was the fresh food or the first shower that won the day for them!

After a few cargo loads from Kista Strait the next morning, we sent the refuel team ashore and the watercraft operators to plan the transfer and swap of the skidders. The skidders pull a trailer over the rough rocky terrain and can carry twenty foot shipping containers around station.
Unlike other cargo the barge needs to be ran aground on a beach or rocky shelf as the skidder is driven off.

Once the skidder was complete the ships Master decided the conditions were acceptable to enter the harbour and moor the ship.

Cheers

Andy and Misty
