Yesterday went well and we were able to move a reasonable quantity of cargo to the wharf and and back. For the barge to operate effectively it was necessary to keep about 3 tons of cargo on the deck, otherwise it was unable to move through the ice reforming in the harbour.
We packed up and lifted the barge out when the winds increased to 30 knots.
Over night and all of today the winds have remained strong, ashore and aboard the vessel, precluding us from performing any resupply activities. We are currently parked in ice just north of Bechervaise Island, where two field scientists are waiting a recovery back to the ship or station.
Cheers
