This morning at 0600hs, our watercraft operators and members of the refuelling team commenced the final preparations for station refuelling including the deployment of the fuel lines. They were joined at 0800hs by those expeditioners on the refuel roster who in rolling shifts would be responsible for monitoring the refuelling operation at both ends of the fuel line (ship & station) and along the length of the line itself.
An observed increase in wind gusts in the morning was carefully monitored, but thankfully subsided as forecast and by mid-morning final checks and pressure tests were being conducted. To observe Brad C, his refuelling assistants and station teams work through their preparatory checklists is to observe an exercise in scrupulous adherence to protocols.. each step in the checklist carefully articulated and confirmed in sequence.
With winds easing, refuelling commenced and proceeded smoothly throughout the day and evening, with Casey enjoying what was described by a number of their station team as the best weather day they had seen in weeks. A perfect day for refuelling and the occasional passenger transfer, made all the sweeter by the increasingly likely prospect of another two days of variable 10kt conditions in harbour.
Our thanks to everyone involved, rostered and supporting this operation and on behalf of all of us to those reading this at home, a very happy Christmas Eve.
Regards,
Voyage Management.
