Over the last 12 hours the water temperature has trended upwards, climbing as high as a balmy +6.5 degrees as we cut across the Antarctic convergence at an oblique angle. However we are still a few hundred miles closer to the Antarctic coastline than we are to Australia underlining that we are still far from home.

Tonight will be a formal social occasion on board and around the ship people are resting their brains in preparation for what could be the highlight of the week. Yes, it's Quiz Night!
