We finally reached 60 degrees south early this morning and immediately turned to a westerly course. The road is bumpier this morning and every so often we hit a pothole.
The scenery doesn't look that different from anywhere we've been in the last 1200 nautical miles except perhaps a little wilder. We still have more than 1300 miles to go before we reach the next turning point to take us further southwards. According to the satellite, we have pack ice roughly 200 miles to our south while to our North are 14 metre seas.
Consequently we are traversing a fine line between ice and storm. Is it a groove or a rut? We'll keep you posted.

Lloyd and Andrew
