We've just clocked up over 700 nautical miles since leaving Hobart. The ship is rolling a bit today which at least makes a change from the pitching we've been experiencing. As I write this, we just went over the flank of a sea mount and saw the echo-sounder depth rise to 1500 metres. We have fallen back to below 3000 metres now. Seems like good walking country down there.
Over a six hour period last night, we saw a sharp drop in water temperature falling from +9 to +4 degrees.

The food has certainly been up to its usual fine standard and last night the cooks pulled out the big guns and unleashed a particularly fine sticky date pudding upon a receptive crowd. Of course the accompanying fresh strawberries and cream were for purely medicinal purposes to prevent any possible outbreak of scurvy.

I don't think that's going to be a problem now.

The Continuous Plankton Recorder was changed over at midnight last night.
Clocks are going back 1 hour tonight to bring the ship onto UTC+10.
