We write this as we are entering the beautiful Derwent River, we are very lucky to have such a beautiful harbour and city in which to base the RSV Aurora Australis. Two full depth benthic trawls were successfully completed this morning to test out the trawling gear and associated equipment. Its very important for AAD staff and P&O crew to maintain familiarity in using such equipment, it takes a lot of teamwork to successfully shoot the gear away and retrieve it from the back of a large moving vessel. Everyone is busily packing away all the equipment used on Trials ready to be unloaded when we arrive back in Hobart this evening. It has been a very successful trials with everything working well and everyone getting along - thanks everyone, see you next season!
