Comments

Unfortunately weather conditions remained unsuitable for cargo operations yesterday afternoon with the Aurora Australis instead continuing its stooge up and down the east coast of Macquarie Island.
This did however allow one of the on-board project teams the opportunity to collect additional water samples, with the Master taking the ship further south towards Hurd Point, an area with limited water sampling history.

Weather conditions have continued to remain challenging this morning, with high wind speeds and large swell heights meaning another pause and wait. We are hopeful these conditions will soon pass and a weather window may open up later this afternoon. This window would allow the discharge of the ships lower hold and the RTA back loading of more cage pallets and bundles.

In other exciting news we were also greeted by a shag on the heli deck. The Macquarie Shag is endemic to the island, found no where else, and occasionally they stop by for a rest on the ships deck.

Cheers

Andy, Justin and Aron
