Yesterday's wind and wave conditions saw no cargo operations as the Aurora Australis stooged off the east coast of Macquarie Island. Aboard the ship, expeditioners continued to amuse themselves whilst Voyage Management calculated outstanding resupply priorities and caught up on administrative paperwork.
At Macquarie Island, most projects have now completed project works and are packing up equipment ready for RTA to Australia. The new station project continues priority tasks and will likely utilise the full length of the resupply duration as they collect valuable data on potential site locations.
This morning cargo recommenced with good weather and acceptable beach conditions for LARC operations. We also welcomed back aboard a number of round trip personnel who have completed project works, as well as some expeditioners who have been at Macquarie Island throughout the winter.
Hopefully weather conditions hold out for this afternoon as we aim to catch up on resupply delays and continue to push cargo both to station and RTA back to the Aurora Australis.
In other good news, cloud and fog have cleared and Macca looks a gem today.
Cheers
Andy, Justin and Aron
