Yesterday evening expeditioners were once again treated to a science presentation, this time by Bernd K, on the dynamics of glacial and ice shelf movement and deterioration with specific reference to the Larsen B and C ice shelves. His presentation, profiling the trend of changes to ice shelves and glaciers across both East and West Antarctica was interspersed by equally interesting insights into the logistical processes and experiences associated with working in such dynamic environments.

Today, we continue our steady progress towards Hobart. With our estimated time of arrival (ETA) now all but confirmed as 1900hs tomorrow evening we are passing our final 24 hours together completing performance reviews, cleaning cabins and finalising arrangements for disembarkation of expeditioners and cargo. That of course is additional to the requisite periods of tea drinking, nattering, pacing the decks looking for elusive sea birds and for some, finally finding their sea legs, a day's sail from port.

Tonight, another presentation, this time by the researcher leading the krill trawling project onboard. This presentation by the self-styled 'natural born kriller', Jess will provide a welcome insight into her research which continues to capture the attention and enthusiasm of those onboard and coincides with the happy news of the birth of new little krill onboard over the past day.

Kind regards,

James and Dave
