Yesterday evening, at the conclusion of the day's cargo operations, the AA raised anchor and headed out of Newcomb harbour to stooge some miles off the coast, out of reach of the winds forecast for station. With the weather clearing early this morning we returned to our anchorage in front of the station to recommence cargo operations for a second day in exceedingly calm waters.
With our refuelling team ashore to finalise preparations for tomorrow's fuel transfer, our watercraft operators and ship's crew have again been busy transferring cargo to station via the barge. Amongst them have been the 20ft refrigerated containers holding much of the station's food and the major components of a new sled that will be used by aviation teams discharging cargo from Wilkin's. It's been a very satisfying experience seeing the forward hold of the ship gradually emptying, knowing that the long awaited supplies are finding their rightful place ashore.
Tomorrow, keeping a watchful eye on the weather and the conditions of the fast ice around the harbour we will deploy our fuel line and commence station refuelling operations.
With kind regards.
