This afternoon at 1300hs, Casey Station welcomed us with calm conditions and a beautifully clear blue sky as we dropped anchor in Newcomb Bay. Having arrived well ahead of schedule we were able to observe expeditioners from station, itself in a high degree of readiness, completing final briefings and checks in preparation of resupply operations. As the first passenger transfers took place, facilitated by our water craft operators and ship's crew, we welcomed aboard members of the station's supervisory team to discuss plans for resupply. Simultaneously we bid a fond farewell to our contingent of French and Italian colleagues, their national flags flying at Casey, now as guests of the station.
With increasingly dynamic fast ice conditions at Casey posing challenges for resupply and refuel operations we continue to monitor conditions and develop plans accordingly.
Wishing you all a pleasant afternoon.
Kind regards,
James and Dave
