Comments

Calmer seas and finally all expeditioners are up and about, enjoying the delights of meal times as the ship makes steady progress towards Casey. The 'Iceberg Sweep' is filling up with the consensus being that Tuesday is as good a day as any to spot an iceberg.

Last night, our friends from the Italian National Antarctic Research Programme (PRNA) gave a fascinating presentation on the nature and origins of meteorites, as well as the research they are conducting on meteorites in Antarctica. Such presentations can leave one marvelling at human curiosity and ingenuity all the while contemplating our true scale in the scheme of things.. just as sailing across the Southern Ocean might.

So on calmer seas, we'll leave you comforted in our newfound knowledge that in recorded history there has never been reported a fatality from a meteorite, only close shaves.

Kind regards,

James and Dave
