Another fairly ;choppy' night was spent at sea with conditions thankfully calming today. Many of the expeditioners are now catching up on some lost sleep.
A routine emergency muster drill was conducted this morning with the ship's crew responding to a simulated emergency whilst the expeditioners assembled with life jackets and full Antarctic clothing in the mess.
Outside, the temperature is growing noticeably cooler as we continue southwards. Inside, talk is turning to the 'Iceberg Sweep' whereby expeditioners submit (for the cost of $1 AUD) their best guess as to the day and time the first iceberg will be sighted. With proceeds going to the charity 'Camp Quality', this is an opportunity for us to put our Antarctic seafaring knowledge; intuition or capacity for wild speculation towards a very worthy cause
Tonight we are being treated to a presentation on meteorites from members of the Italian Antarctic Programme who are travelling with us to Casey. Ship-based science projects are continuing, as is the drafting of rosters and planning documents for resupply operations.
With kind regards,
James and Dave
