Comments

Greetings reader from Voyage VMI of the L'Astrolabe. We are enjoying calm conditions for our first day at sea, which are expected to continue tomorrow. It is a quiet day on board as people get their sea legs. Most people have been up and about and are passing time reading, sleeping or gazing at the far horizons. The odd Albatross and whale have been sighted.
The purposes on voyage VMI are to deliver personnel and cargo to Macquarie Island, to return as much cargo as we can, and to support some round trip programs doing work on station. We will deliver 10 people doing summer science and station trades work, we have 9 round trip people undertaking maintenance work experiments on the island. The remaining personnel are voyage support and include our Larc crews. We will use amphibious Larcs for ship to shore cargo work and are carrying one with us, with 2 at Macquarie Island.

Cheers Don and Helen
