It's been a very productive final day of operations at Macca. We have moved 48 people onto the ship, the LARC delivered us a 5T JCB loadall vehicle from station and we then lifted LARCs themselves onto the deck. Scientific samples and cargo was flown onto the ship and finally the two helicopters were flown out one by one, rotor blades removed and packed away as the last IRB was lifted from the water. Final down island flying was completed in the morning to remove old repeater huts and other rubbish. The ship is now being prepared for sea and we plan to leave the protected lee of the island in the next few hours and head through a lumpy Southern Ocean North for Hobart. We wish the winter team all the very best for a safe, productive and happy winter on their awesome island home.
