Comments

World Meteorological Day dawned for us with 40-50kt winds, low cloud and rain! We anchored in Sandy Bay early where there is less roll on the ship to allow the crew to discharge the LARC on deck into the water. It's a tricky job with a large 7.5 Ton amphibious vehicle being craned off the ship. By 1230 the wind had dropped enough to allow the crew to undertake a very safe and methodical process in strong wind. The LARC crew then steamed the LARC up to Buckles Bay and the station where it will live for the next 12 months. We are now anchored in Buckles Bay and about to commence cargo operations with the LARCs while hopefully the helicopters can fly to some of the field huts. The field science teams are now starting to come back to the station and soon back to the ship after a productive trip around the island. If the wind drops enough we will do some passenger transfers to and from the station this afternoon. If not they will be cosy ashore.

Cheers,
Robb, Nicki, Aaron and Eliza.
